Tip of the Week: 1/8/2012 Battery Born On Date

When properly cared for, batteries don’t spoil from just sitting around (you store them at 50- to 60% charged, right?), but they do have a lifespan based on the number of charge and discharge cycles they are put through. Marking down each and every cycle may be a little unrealistic, but writing the date (month and year) you started using the battery will help you keep track of your batteries. Use a permanent┬ámarker such as a Sharpie to write the date on the pack. Pick a spot that isn’t likely to get rubbed off.
