Tip of the Week: 3/25/2012 Velcro Adapter

Many rock crawlers use a strip of Velcro or similar hook-and-loop fastener to secure the battery. It’s a pretty handy product…until you go to install a pack and the battery mount has the hooks and so does the battery. Or maybe both have loops. Point is hooks only work with loops and vice versa. Sooner or later someone will have a pack that doesn’t match. To have a solution on hand for when the problem arises–and it will eventually–is to build two Velcro adapters. Get two pieces of scrap Lexan and cut them into small rectangles or squares. On one put hook material on both sides. On the other, out loop material on both sides. These adapters will make quick work of a not-the-right Velcro situation.
