Tamiya Suzuki Jimny Wheelie WR-02

With this new release, Tamiya reminds us that RC should be fun. The Suzuki Jimny SJ30 (AKA Samurai) is offered as a kit, but a Tamiya electric speed control is included. The WR-02 chassis is the second generation (the original was the original Wild Willy). If you’re not familiar with the platform, it’s a 2WD truck setup with a short wheelbase and high CG–it wheelies really easy.

  1. (cough) wild willy2!! … pardon??? Well as I’ve said in a previous comment about Tamiya’s body swapping, this one (and the VW Van) is a good example. However, the chassis is proven for great fun and beginners and plus … who doesn’t like doing wheelies anyway?? 🙂

Note: I’ll take the body for a different project though….

  2. Yup, this is essentially the same as the Wild Willy 2 and the same as the recent VW van version. I do recommend these trucks as part of a fleet. They make great driveway cruisers. And, wouldn’t it be fun trying to race a field of wheelie machines?!

  3. they flip a LOT! but it’s hard to break those bodies.

but that’s what makes them fun. My first R/C in 87 was a tamiya pajero (wild willy with the pajero body)and I had a blast with it. I raced it for about 2 years in Novice because:

1-It handled like a clown car
    -and-
2- it handled like a clown car.

the fun part was, even with the battery (with velcro) moved to the middle of the chassis, I could still pull a wheelie going into the back straight. I’m seriously considering buying another one of these, just for the indestructible fun factor.

  4. Just purchased one dam i feel like a kid again always wanted a wild willy as a kid.so excited pikup this week 36going on 12 haha
