Truck of the Week: 6/17/2012 Axial SCX10

When we first saw Chris Goris’ Axial SCX10 it was literally among at least a hundred other scale and 2.2 trucks–and yet it stood out. That was at last year at the Axial West Coast Championships, and the truck with its classic body was a rather weathered blue. Chris recently gave “The Blue Bastard” a rebuild, complete with some upgrades, and a new name to go with the new gray paint job. Now dubbed “Old Grey Bastard,” the scalers is loaded with hop-ups and custom touches. The tires are 1.9 Mickey Thompson tires on JunFac wheels. For power, a Holmes Hobbies BR-XL speed control controls a 14-turn Puller motor and the package gets the juice from a 6-cell (22.2 volt!) 3000mAh pack. New additions include Vanquish axles housings front and rear. All steel gears are used in the transmission and MIP drive shafts add durability and improve turning. There’s even more, but like we said, it’s loaded with the right upgrades and handmade parts.
