Truck of the Week: 6/24/2012 Tamiya Clod Buster

Darryl Martin Barnes’ Tamiya Clod Buster goes by the name Ghost Ryder. It’s heavily modified and barely has anything in common with the stock machine. The chassis is a custom made carbon fiber creation and Darryl states the shocks are rear Duratrax Evader ST units. For power (and lots of it!), twin HobbyWing 6000Kv EZRUN brushless motors with EZRUN 60A speed controls. The body is a Parma 1/10 ’70 Boss Mustang. Steering is handled by a Crawford Performance Engineering CPE-SER4: CYS Hi-Torque Metal Gear servo and the front axle is outfitted with a ThunderTech CVD and Behind the Axle setup. The rear axle features Thunder Tech’s straight axle kit.

  1. Im glad to see darryls truck make Truck of the week. He has worked long and hard on this build. and i wish him all the luck on winning TRUCK OF THE MONTH.

  2. As a fan of R/c and monster trucks, I must say Darryl did a beautiful job on his Ghost Ryder. Larry Quick (a.k.a. Boogie) owner of the real Ghost Ryder would be proud. Not to be a copycat, but at some point I plan to build one myself (I have 2 Clods and a bunch of spare parts) but mine will be more stock than anything.
Excellent workmanship Darryl. 2 thumbs up from Joy, Illinois.
