Did Chrysler Ever Make a Pickup Truck?

Chrysler is well-known for its lineup of quality vehicles, including sedans, coupes, and minivans. But did the company ever make a pickup truck?

The answer is yes. Although they weren’t the most popular vehicle on the market, Chrysler did in fact produce pickup trucks throughout the years.

Chrysler first began producing pickup trucks in the early 1900s when they built a basic delivery truck for commercial use. This truck was designed to be used as a workhorse and was only available in one body style.

In 1924, Chrysler introduced a new model of pickup truck called the Roadster Pickup. This four-cylinder vehicle had an open cab and was meant for light hauling duties. It had a maximum payload capacity of 1,000 pounds and was powered by a 28 horsepower engine.

During the 1950s and ‘60s, Chrysler offered several models of pickup trucks including the Dodge Power Wagon and Dodge Sweptline pickups. These vehicles were extremely popular with ranchers and farmers as they offered ample power and cargo space. The Dodge Power Wagon was powered by a 230 cubic inch six-cylinder engine while the Sweptline featured either a 170 cubic inch six-cylinder or 225 cubic inch V8 engine.

In 1972, Chrysler introduced their first full-size pickup truck called the Dodge D Series. This vehicle had a maximum payload capacity of 3,000 pounds and was powered by either a 360 or 400 cubic inch V8 engine.

The D Series also featured an optional four-speed manual transmission which gave it plenty of power for larger jobs around town or on farms or ranches. It remained in production until 1993 when it was replaced by the Ram 1500 series pickup truck which is still in production today.

Chrysler also produced mid-size pickup trucks such as the Dodge Dakota during this time period as well as compact models like the Plymouth Arrow Truck in 1981 and 1982 before discontinuing production in 1984 due to poor sales figures.

Overall, Chrysler has produced several different types of pickups over its long history but they never achieved widespread popularity like some other manufacturers’ models have done such as Ford’s F Series pickups or Chevrolet’s C/K series pickups.

In conclusion, Chrysler did indeed make several different models of pickup trucks throughout its history but none achieved great success on the market compared to some of its competitors’ offerings. Nonetheless, these vehicles still remain popular among those looking for reliable workhorses that can take on any task thrown at them.
