Did Ford Ever Make a Semi Truck?

Ford Motor Company has been a leader in the automotive industry for over a century. In that time, they have produced various types of vehicles, from cars to SUVs to pickups.

But did Ford ever make a semi truck? The answer is yes, they have.

The first semi truck produced by Ford was the Model TT, which was released in 1917. This was a 1-ton truck that was powered by an inline-four engine and had a four-speed manual transmission.

It was designed for commercial use and could haul up to two tons of cargo. This model was later replaced by the Model AA in 1925 and then by the Model BB in 1932.

Ford also produced semi trucks from other manufacturers such as White Motor Company and Mack Trucks. The White Motor Company produced the Ford/White B-series from 1970 to 1980 and the Mack Trucks produced the CL series from 1973 to 1991. The CL series had a variety of models, ranging from 1-ton light models all the way up to 3-axle heavy-duty models with engines ranging from 6-cylinder gas engines to diesel V8s.

In addition to producing its own semi trucks, Ford also collaborated with other companies on joint ventures such as Navistar International Corporation and Freightliner LLC. The partnership between Ford and Navistar resulted in an extensive line of medium-duty trucks known as Fordsons, while the partnership between Ford and Freightliner resulted in a line of heavy-duty tractors called FLCs (Ford/Freightliner Classics).

Ford’s foray into semi truck production may have been short lived, but it did manage to produce some quality vehicles during its time in this segment of the market. Today, Ford no longer produces semi trucks but instead focuses on commercial vans like its popular Transit model as well as pickups like its iconic F-150 series.

In conclusion, yes – Ford did make semi trucks at one point in time but has since shifted focus away from this market segment towards more commercial vans and pickup trucks instead. Despite no longer producing these vehicles today, Ford’s legacy in this area continues through its collaborations with other companies such as Navistar International Corporation and Freightliner LLC who continue to produce quality semi trucks for those who need them for work or recreational purposes alike.
