Did Tesla Make a Semi Truck?

Tesla recently unveiled their all-electric semi truck, the Tesla Semi, at a launch event in Hawthorne, California on November 16th, 2017. The truck is Tesla’s first foray into the commercial trucking industry and has been met with both excitement and skepticism.

The Tesla Semi is powered by four electric motors that provide the truck with up to 500 miles of range on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 20 seconds when fully loaded. The truck is also equipped with a number of advanced safety features including Autopilot which allows for hands-free driving and Enhanced Summon which allows the truck to autonomously drive itself to its driver if within a certain range. The Tesla Semi also has an impressive exterior design that is sure to turn heads on the road.

Tesla’s entry into the commercial trucking industry comes at an interesting time as many companies are beginning to explore electric vehicles for their fleets. Companies such as UPS, JB Hunt, and DHL have already placed orders for the Tesla Semis while others such as Walmart and PepsiCo have expressed interest in testing them out. Additionally, some states are beginning to offer incentives for companies that switch to electric vehicles such as California which offers up to $50,000 per vehicle purchased.

The question remains though: did Tesla make a semi truck? After its unveiling it appears that they certainly did and it looks like it could be a major player in the commercial trucking industry. The advanced safety features, long range capabilities, attractive exterior design, and incentives offered by some states make it clear that this could be an attractive option for many businesses looking to make the switch from diesel-powered trucks.

In conclusion, Tesla did indeed make a semi truck with their recently unveiled Tesla Semi. It has all of the features necessary for success in this competitive market including advanced safety features, long range capabilities, attractive exterior design and incentives offered by some states for switching to electric vehicles. It will be interesting to see how successful this new venture proves to be for Tesla in coming years but one thing is certain: they certainly made a splash with their debut into the commercial trucking industry!
