Did They Make a Mercury Pickup Truck?

The Mercury brand of automobiles was first introduced in 1939 by Ford Motor Company and lasted until 2011. The Mercury lineup included a number of models, from sedans to SUVs to minivans, but one thing they never offered was a pickup truck.

So, did they make a Mercury pickup truck? The answer is no.

Mercury’s focus was primarily on passenger cars, though the brand also had some light-duty commercial vehicles such as the full-size Villager minivan and the Mountaineer SUV. But despite the occasional venture into commercial vehicles, Mercury never produced or sold a pickup truck.

Ford Motor Company has had a long-standing presence in the pickup truck market with its F-Series line of trucks, which began production in 1948 as the F-1 and was later renamed the F-150. The company never saw any need to expand into other lines of trucks and so it never developed one for Mercury.

It is worth mentioning that there have been some aftermarket conversions of existing Ford vehicles into Mercury pickups over the years. These conversions were done by third party companies and were not officially endorsed by Ford or Mercury. These conversions were more for novelty purposes than practical use and thus were limited in their appeal.

So while it is true that there are some examples of modified Mercurys that have been turned into pickups, these are not official models built by Ford or Mercury and thus do not count towards an answer to the question: Did they make a Mercury pickup truck? The answer remains no – there has never been an official production model of a pickup truck from Mercury.

Conclusion: In conclusion, Ford Motor Company’s Mercury brand never made an official production model of a pickup truck. Although there have been some aftermarket conversions of existing Ford vehicles into pickups over the years, these were not officially endorsed by either company and only had limited appeal. Thus, while it is possible to find modified Mercurys that have been turned into pickups, this does not change the fact that they never made an official production model of one.
