Ford is one of the most recognizable automakers in the world, and they have a wide range of vehicles available for consumers. One of the company’s most popular offerings is their pickup truck line, but does Ford make a midsize pickup truck? The answer is yes.
Ford offers two different midsize pickup trucks: the Ranger and the Maverick. The Ranger has been around since 1982 and was recently redesigned for 2020, while the Maverick is a new model that was just released in 2021. Both trucks offer plenty of features and capabilities to meet the needs of midsize truck buyers.
The Ranger comes with two engine options: a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder or a 3.0-liter V6. The former produces 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, while the latter produces 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, which provides smooth shifts and excellent fuel economy.
The Ranger also offers an array of convenience and driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and more. It also has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The Maverick is slightly smaller than the Ranger but still offers plenty of capability. It has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine is more fuel efficient than its bigger brother but still has enough grunt for light towing.
In terms of features and technology, the Maverick comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility as well as Ford’s CoPilot360 suite of driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, etc.
It is clear that Ford does make a midsize pickup truck in both the Ranger and Maverick models. The Ranger has been around for years while the Maverick is brand new for 2021. Both models offer plenty of capability as well as convenience and safety features that make them great choices for those in need of a midsize pickup truck.
