How Do You Build a Wooden Truck Bed Bike Rack?

Building your own wooden truck bed bike rack is an excellent way to transport your bike safely and securely. Not only will it keep your bike from bouncing around in the bed of your truck, but it can also give you easy access when you need to unload and load. The best part is that it won’t cost you much to build, and you can customize it to fit the size of your bike.

To begin, gather the materials you will need for the project. You will need a few pieces of wood, screws, washers, and a drill or screwdriver.

You should also measure the bed of your truck so that you know how much wood to buy and how long each piece needs to be. Once you have all of your materials gathered, you can start building.

The first step is to cut two pieces of wood so that they are slightly wider than the width of your bike’s wheels. Then, use screws to attach them together in a rectangle shape.

Make sure that the sides are parallel for stability. Next, measure and cut four more pieces of wood into short rectangles that will be used as supports for the frame.

Attaching The Supports:

Attach these four supports between each corner of the frame with screws or nails. Make sure they are even and secure so that they won’t move when installing the rack on the truck bed later on. Finally, attach two more pieces of wood across each side in order to create a platform for your bike.

Installing The Rack:

Once everything is assembled, lay it carefully in the back of your truck bed with the wheels facing up. Then use screws or bolts to attach it securely so that it won’t move when driving over bumps and rough roads.

Conclusion:

Building a wooden truck bed bike rack isn’t difficult or time consuming if done correctly; however, proper measurements must be taken into account before beginning construction. Utilizing screws or nails along with properly cut pieces of wood can make this project easy and provide safe transportation for any type of bicycle.
