How Do You Fix a Dent in a Up Truck Bed?

A dent in your pickup truck bed can be an eyesore, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. Depending on the severity and size of the dent, there are a few methods you can try for fixing it up.

Body Filler Repair Kit

This is one of the simplest methods for removing small dents with minimal effort. Body filler repair kits usually have all the materials you need; including a putty knife, spreaders and sandpaper. To use this method, start by cleaning the area with wax and grease remover and then lightly sand it.

Next, apply body filler over the dent and use a spreader to make sure it’s evenly distributed. Let the body filler dry until it’s hard before sanding down any rough edges with fine-grit sandpaper. Finally, spray on some primer and paint over the area.

Hair Dryer Technique

This method is often used on plastic bumper covers but it can also work on metal truck beds if you’re careful. Start by cleaning the area with wax and grease remover and then heat up a hair dryer to its highest setting.

Carefully move the dryer over the dent from different angles until you feel that the metal has softened enough for you to push out from behind or underneath. Be sure to not keep the heat in one spot for too long as this could cause damage or warping.

Hammer and Dollies

Using a hammer and dolly is an effective way to remove large dents from your truck bed without having to use any chemicals or fillers. Start by cleaning off any dirt or debris from around the dent before putting a dolly block directly behind it. Then carefully tap around the edges of the dent using a rubber mallet until it starts to pop out into place.

Conclusion:

Dents in pickup truck beds don’t have to stay there forever; Depending on its severity and size, there are various methods available for fixing them up yourself such as using body filler repair kits, hair dryer techniques or hammer/dollies techniques.
