Is GMC Making an Electric Pickup Truck?

General Motors is currently in the process of making an electric pickup truck, and it is expected to be released at some point in 2021. The electric pickup truck, which will be called the GMC Hummer EV, will feature an all-electric powertrain that will provide up to 1000 horsepower and 11,500 lb.-ft. of torque.

It will also have the ability to tow up to 8,000 lbs., which is more than any other electric vehicle on the market today. Additionally, it will have a range of more than 300 miles on a single charge.

The Hummer EV is being designed with off-roading capabilities in mind and will feature four-wheel drive along with four-wheel steering as well as air suspension for increased maneuverability over rough terrain. It will also come with an array of advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, multiple USB ports for charging devices, and a heads-up display.

The Hummer EV is expected to be priced around $80,000 when it hits showrooms next year. It would put GMC in direct competition with Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck as well as Rivian’s R1T electric pickup truck. Both of those vehicles are expected to offer similar levels of performance but at lower price points.

Conclusion

Overall, GMC is making an exciting move into the world of electric vehicles with their upcoming Hummer EV pickup truck. With its impressive performance capabilities and advanced driver assistance features, it could prove to be a strong competitor in the market against other electric pickups. It remains to be seen how successful the Hummer EV will be once it hits showrooms next year but there’s certainly no doubt that GMC is making a bold move into the future of electric vehicles.
