What Happened to Bigfoot the Monster Truck?

Since the early 1980s, Bigfoot, the original Monster Truck, has been a staple of American pop culture. The giant truck was created by Bob Chandler and his wife, Marilyn, in 1975 as a fun way to promote their 4×4 shop in St. Louis. The truck became an instant hit and went on to become one of the most recognizable Monster Trucks of all time.

Bigfoot had several incarnations over the years, with different chassis, engines and paint jobs. It even spawned a whole family of Bigfoot Monster Trucks that toured around the country performing stunts and competing in races. But what happened to Bigfoot?

In 2004, Bob Chandler sold the rights to the Bigfoot name to Andy Brass and his company, USHRA (United States Hot Rod Association). USHRA continued producing new versions of Bigfoot trucks for several years after taking over ownership. However, by 2010 USHRA had gone out of business and the rights to use the name “Bigfoot” were sold again.

The new owner was Jim Kramer from Kansas City who formed Bigfoot 4×4 Inc. Kramer was able to keep some of Bob Chandler’s original employees on staff and continued producing new versions of Bigfoot trucks for many years. He also took part in some racing events but decided not to pursue it further due to safety concerns.

In 2017 Jim Kramer retired from his position as president at Bigfoot 4×4 Inc., leaving behind an impressive legacy that will last for generations. His retirement marked a major shift in the history of Monster Trucks as he had been instrumental in keeping alive one of America’s most beloved cultural icons.

Conclusion:

Bigfoot is arguably one of America’s most iconic Monster Trucks ever made. The truck has seen several transformations over its lifetime but still remains a symbol of American pop culture. After being sold multiple times throughout its history, it is now owned by Jim Kramer who retired in 2017 after being instrumental in keeping alive this beloved icon.
