What Percentage of Americans Own a Pickup Truck?

Pickup trucks have been a long-time favorite among American drivers. With their rugged, reliable designs and features that are ideal for work and recreation, it’s easy to see why they are so popular. But how many Americans actually own a pickup truck?

According to a recent survey, approximately 26 percent of all households in the United States have at least one pickup truck. This figure is slightly higher than the overall average of 24 percent for all vehicles, including cars, SUVs, vans and other types of vehicles.

The study also found that more men than women own pickups. Of those surveyed, 30 percent of male respondents said they owned a pickup truck compared to 22 percent of female respondents. In addition, the survey showed that people who live in rural areas are more likely to own pickups than people who live in urban areas.

When broken down by age group, the highest rate of ownership was among people aged 55 or older – with nearly one-third (32 percent) owning at least one pickup truck. This was followed by adults aged 35 to 44 (27 percent), adults aged 45 to 54 (24 percent) and adults aged 18 to 24 (18 percent).

Interestingly, pickup trucks are not just popular with individuals but with businesses as well. The survey found that nearly two-thirds (65 percent) of businesses with fleet vehicles had at least one pickup truck in their fleet.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, approximately 26% of all households in America have at least one pickup truck – this figure is slightly higher than the overall average for all vehicles combined.
