What Was the 1st RC Car?

RC cars, or remote controlled cars, are a staple of the hobbyist world. They come in all shapes and sizes, from small toy cars to full-sized RC replicas. But what was the very first RC car?

The first commercially available RC car was developed in 1966 by Elettronica Giocattoli, an Italian toy company that was founded in 1963. The car, called the “Puppy,” was a small four-wheeled vehicle with a 4-speed remote control. It could travel up to 25 mph and had a range of 100 feet with its included rechargeable battery pack.

The Puppy was followed by the “Pelican” in 1969. This larger car had more features than its predecessor, including a 6-speed remote control unit and an adjustable suspension system for better handling on rough terrain. It also had an improved battery pack that could last for up to two hours of use. The Pelican set the standard for RC cars for many years to come.

In 1971, Elettronica Giocattoli released their most popular model yet: the “Trix.” This car featured a 3-speed transmission and a variety of interchangeable parts that allowed users to customize their vehicles with different bodies and wheelbases. The Trix also featured an improved battery system that allowed it to run for up to three hours between charges.

Conclusion:

The first commercially available RC car was the Puppy developed by Elettronica Giocattoli in 1966, followed by the Pelican in 1969 and then by the Trix in 1971 – setting the standard for RC cars for many years to come.
