What Year Did Mercury Make a Pickup Truck?

Mercury Motor Company, a division of the Ford Motor Company, began manufacturing pickup trucks in 1946. Since then, the company has released a steady stream of pickups over the years, with the most recent being the Mercury Mountaineer in 2009. The Mountaineer was discontinued in 2010 due to declining sales and customer demand.

The earliest pickup trucks from Mercury came in two different sizes. The first was a light-duty truck called the M-1, which featured a six-cylinder engine and an open cab.

This model was available from 1946 to 1951. The second size was a heavier-duty truck called the M-2, which had either an eight-cylinder or ten-cylinder engine and either an open cab or closed cab. This model was available from 1951 to 1959.

In 1960, Mercury released its first full-size pickup truck called the Mercury Commuter. It had an eight-cylinder engine and came with either an open or closed cab.

This model remained in production until 1968 when it was replaced by the Mercury Brougham pickup. The Brougham featured a larger body style and more luxurious amenities than its predecessor.

Mercury updated its full-size lineup for 1973 with the introduction of three new models: the Ranger, Villager and Courier. The Ranger was equipped with either a six-cylinder or eight-cylinder engine and came as either a two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive vehicle. The Villager featured power steering and brakes as standard features while the Courier was only available as a two-wheel drive vehicle.

In 1984, Mercury introduced its first compact pickup truck called the Lynx which featured either a four-cylinder or six-cylinder engine and came as either two wheel drive or four wheel drive. This model remained in production until 1991 when it was replaced by the Tracer pickup which featured updated styling and more powerful engines.
