What Year Did Toyota Make Their First Pickup Truck?

Toyota has been manufacturing vehicles for decades, but the first pickup truck they ever released was the Toyota Stout in 1952. The Stout was a light-duty truck that had a ladder frame and a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine.

It was available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations, as well as either a short or long bed.

The Stout was a popular vehicle in Japan, where it was marketed as the Toyopet, but it didn’t do as well in other markets. In the United States, it was sold as the Toyopet Pickup and only lasted two years before being discontinued due to poor sales.

In 1968, Toyota released their first full-size pickup truck – the Hilux – which was based on the Stout’s design but with more power and features. The Hilux quickly became one of Toyota’s most successful models, and it continues to be produced today with many variations including regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab body styles.

Since then, Toyota has released several more pickup trucks including the Tundra (1999), Tacoma (1995), and 4Runner (1984). All of these vehicles have been popular among consumers for their reliability and ruggedness.

Conclusion:

Toyota released their first pickup truck – the Toyota Stout – in 1952. Since then they have gone on to produce various other successful models such as the Hilux, Tundra, Tacoma, and 4Runner.
