Where Do You Put the Camera on a Semi Truck?

Semi-trucks are a key component of the transportation industry, shipping goods all over the world. But like any other vehicle, they need to be properly equipped with cameras to ensure safety on the road.

The placement of these cameras is critical for capturing the necessary footage and providing optimal visibility from all angles.

The most common camera position for a semi-truck is the dashcam. This camera is typically mounted at the top of the windshield and aimed forward, providing a clear view of what’s ahead on the road.

The dashcam should be adjusted to capture as much of the truck’s surroundings as possible without obscuring the driver’s vision.

Rearview cameras are also important for semi-trucks. These can either be mounted on the outside or inside of the trailer and are generally aimed at a downward angle to give an unobstructed view behind the vehicle. Rearview cameras can help drivers spot any dangers they may have missed while looking in their mirrors, such as cyclists or pedestrians.

Side view cameras are also essential for monitoring blind spots while backing up or while driving on narrow roads. These should be placed close to each side mirror so that they don’t obstruct visibility but are still able to provide an adequate field of view.

Finally, interior cameras can be used to monitor driver behavior inside a semi-truck cab. These should be positioned in such a way that they can capture both sides of the cab and provide an unobstructed view of all activities taking place within it.

In conclusion: The placement of cameras on semi-trucks is vital for ensuring safety and visibility on the road. Dashcams should be placed at the top of windshields, rearview cameras should be located either outside or inside trailers, side view cameras should go near side mirrors, and interior cameras should have an unobstructed view from both sides of a truck cab in order to capture any activities taking place within it.
