Who Drove the Monster Truck in Roadhouse?

The movie Roadhouse, released in 1989, was a cult classic starring the late Patrick Swayze. It featured a raucous group of bouncers led by Dalton (Swayze), who protect the residents of a small town from a corrupt businessman. One of the most memorable scenes in the film is when Dalton and his crew take on a menacing monster truck driven by one of the bad guys.

The monster truck in question is actually an International Scout. It was heavily modified for the film with oversized tires and an aggressive stance, making it look like something out of Mad Max.

It was driven by actor Ben Gazzara, who played Brad Wesley, the main antagonist in Roadhouse. Wesley wanted to use fear and intimidation to take control of the town, which explains why he chose such an imposing vehicle.

The International Scout had to be modified even further for some of its stunts in Roadhouse. For example, it had to be fitted with hydraulics so it could jump over cars and other obstacles.

Most impressively, it could also do wheelies on command! These incredible feats were all accomplished by stunt driver Bill Hickman, who had worked on films such as Bullitt and The French Connection.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Ben Gazzara drove the monster truck in Roadhouse while Bill Hickman handled its stunts. The International Scout was heavily modified to achieve its menacing look and its amazing wheelies and jumps.
