In 1979 he decided to build a truck capable of driving over cars at mud bogging events. He took an old Ford pickup truck, reinforced it with steel plating and added huge tires, creating a vehicle that could drive over cars with ease. He named his creation ‘Big Foot’ and it quickly became famous for its spectacular stunts at local events.

Chandler’s Big Foot was so popular that other drivers began copying his design and building their own monster trucks to compete against him.
