When Was the First Monster Truck?

The first monster truck was created in 1979 by Bob Chandler, a mechanical engineer from St. Louis, Missouri. He designed the truck with a large suspension system, allowing it to reach heights of up to 12 feet. The truck also had huge tires and a powerful engine, allowing it to crush cars and perform other stunts.

The first public appearance of the monster truck was at a local mud bogging event in 1981. The truck was an instant hit and its popularity quickly spread across the country.

Soon, monster truck events began popping up all over the United States. These events featured cars being crushed and spectacular stunts performed by the trucks.

In 1985, Chandler formed his own monster truck racing team called Bigfoot 4X4 Inc., which is still active today. Chandler also created a series of rules for monster truck racing which are still used as standards today. This includes stipulations on vehicle size and engine size as well as safety regulations.

In 1990, the first Monster Jam World Finals took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. This annual event features some of the best drivers in the world competing for championship titles in various classes of monster trucks such as 2-wheel drive trucks and 4-wheel drive trucks.

The popularity of monster trucks has grown exponentially since their inception in 1979 and they now draw large crowds at events all over the world. It is safe to say that Bob Chandler’s creation has revolutionized motorsport entertainment forever!
