Does Porsche Make a Pickup Truck?

Porsche has been making luxury cars for decades, but does the company make a pickup truck? The short answer is no; Porsche does not currently offer a pickup truck as part of its lineup. However, the company has made pickup trucks in the past and there is speculation that it could make one in the future.

History of Porsche Pickup Trucks

Porsche has produced two pickups over the course of its history: the 914/6 and the 944 Turbo Cabriolet. The 914/6 was released in 1970 as a limited-edition model based on the 914 sports car.

It featured a 2.0L flat-six engine and had an output of 109 hp. Unfortunately, only around 500 units were ever made, making it incredibly rare and highly sought after by collectors today.

The other pickup produced by Porsche was the 944 Turbo Cabriolet, which was based on the 944 coupe. It featured a 3.0L turbocharged engine and had an output of 217 hp. This model was much more successful than its predecessor, with over 1,000 units being sold before production ended in 1989.

Why Hasn’t Porsche Made Another Pickup Truck?

The main reason why Porsche hasn’t made another pickup truck is because it doesn’t fit in with their core business model of producing luxury sports cars and SUVs. Pickup trucks are generally seen as work vehicles and don’t align with Porsche’s upscale image or appeal to their core demographic. Additionally, pickup trucks require larger engines than what is typically seen in Porsche’s vehicles, which would significantly increase production costs and limit profitability for the company.

Will Porsche Make Another Pickup Truck?

It’s impossible to say for certain if or when Porsche will make another pickup truck, but there have been rumors that they may produce one in the near future. If they do decide to make a truck again, it would likely be an electric model designed to compete with other electric pickups on the market such as Tesla’s Cybertruck or Rivian’s R1T.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while Porsche has made pickups in the past they do not currently offer one as part of their lineup. While there is speculation that they may produce another one in the future, nothing has been confirmed at this time so whether or not this will happen remains to be seen.
